What began in 1956 as a humble confectionery and sweets business has since blossomed into a powerhouse in the liquor industry, broadening its horizons in 1978 to encompass the marketing of large-scale products. The company proudly represents revered brands like Jose Cuervo, Gato Negro, JP Chenet, and Las Moras, alongside exclusive labels such as Veuve Clicquot, Laurent Perrier, and Maestro Dobel. Boasting a dedicated team of over 1,400 professionals, Dislicores operates nationwide and has expanded into the retail space with the esteemed Dislicores Store, which now graces 15 cities with over 40 stores. Thanks to its robust infrastructure and innovative digital approach, Dislicores is fully equipped to provide top-notch service to customers across the country.
What was the challenge Dislicores solved with Pragma's support?

Dislicores is dedicated to serving two crucial segments through its B2B platform, “Dislicores a su negocio” (DAN). One segment is the on-trade channel, encompassing restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and hotels, while the other is the off-trade channel, focused on liquor stores, wholesalers, independent stores, and supermarkets. Pragma enthusiastically joined this project with a keen focus on achieving two key goals.
Deepening: Increase the number of product references purchased per customer, exceeding its usual level.
Boosting sales: Multiply the average amount of each transaction.
In order to achieve our goal, we needed to develop a system that could provide personalized recommendations tailored to each customer’s behavior. Additionally, we aimed to strategically showcase products and enhance the overall depth of our portfolio.
With Pragma’s assistance, the large liquor retailer boosted its personalization strategy by harnessing its current technological infrastructure, including digital assets like its app, to which Pragma also made a significant contribution.
To implement this recommendation system, the B2B APP was chosen as the ideal platform to kickstart this transformation and enhance usability, efficiency, and user satisfaction.

The introduction of the customization engine in Dislicores has significantly enhanced users’ experience within the app. By providing real-time data-driven recommendations and harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, users can now benefit from personalized suggestions that precisely cater to their business requirements. This creates a truly delightful experience, ultimately boosting retention and engagement.

From a business perspective, it led to increased sales conversion and improved visibility of strategic product segments.
Additionally, there was an 11% increase in average price in the liquor store segment and a 43% increase in transactions, all achieved through Personalize from December to January 2024.
Today, Dislicores stands as the world’s first liquor store to utilize AWS personalization services, enhancing user experience through AI and machine learning. This remarkable achievement was realized in just three months.

How we did it?

We began with an insightful discovery workshop to deeply comprehend Dislicores’s needs, challenges, KPIs, potential stoppers, and risks, allowing us to chart the project roadmap. During this process, we identified that enhancing sales and diversifying the portfolio could be achieved by optimizing the checkout process through a personalized cross-selling strategy. Our proposed approach involved showcasing tailored recommendations in an advertising Lightbox.
In order to create these recommendations, we utilized cutting-edge AI technology. We carefully selected a robust data source to power our recommendation algorithm. We made strategic decisions to ensure that the data used reflected products commonly bought together. Our focus on a specific segment of wines and spirits further enhanced the precision of our recommendations.
We built on these definitions to craft a powerful recommendation engine, streamlining the automatic process of sharing sales, product, and customer information with the system. We also established a model retraining process to consistently provide relevant recommendations.
To ensure user accessibility, a REST API was used to consume the recommendation from mobile devices or a website.
Moreover, we enabled a dashboard to access valuable indicators for gaining insights into the app's performance, as well as the behavior of both users and the business overall.
Notably, our solution was implemented through a cutting-edge cloud architecture. By eliminating the reliance on on-premises systems, we offer unparalleled scalability and a significant reduction in initial investment, as you only pay for what you use. Our cloud architecture has played a pivotal role in crafting a tailor-made solution that is optimized to meet Dislicores’ unique requirements. It seamlessly integrates with their existing Datalake and empowers them to continually deploy models.
